Mother of disabled baby needs financial help

MommyGaia started this conversation
Looking, as many are, for financial help. My daughter was born in July, and due to medical incompetence she was deprived oxygen for almost 45 minutes. She has severe permanent brain damage, CP, cortical blindness, and cannot swallow which means all her food is fed to her through her g-tube.
It's difficult because her care is so specialized I essentially cannot work, and have to devote myself to her care (at home nurses are a lot more expensive than me not working). But, it still is a huge detriment to our finances me being unable to work.
On top of our normal bills, we get unexpected ones all the time as insurance doesn't cover all her medical supplies and she simply needs them to survive from day to day, so there is no cutting back on those. And we can't cut out anymore expenses we're living hand to mouth and barely at that. I wouldn't trade my daughter for anything, but if anyone cares to donate everything and anything would be appreciated. Also, one day when I have the ability, I will pay forward any help I receive.

You should go to your local Department of Family & Children Services office and apply for Medicaid for your child. If you all have low income or your income is within the bracket they use, they will not deny your child. They will also all of your outstanding medical bills as well. I am disabled and went through the same thing. You all should also apply for Social Security Disability for your baby. Hire a Social Security Disability lawyer who offers free consultations and who doesn't collect unless he or she wins your case. Don't give up, they denied me 4 years in a row even after my attorney and I appealed their decision 3 times. While my attorney and I were waiting for a court date, they reviewed my case again and said they didn't want the responsibility of court fees so they approved my disability.
